Teething can make babies fussy and sore. The dentist can check how teeth are coming in and share ways to help your baby feel more comfortable.

Infant Oral Care Questions

Gently wipe gums with a soft, damp cloth. Once teeth appear, use a small, soft infant toothbrush. Your dentist can show you how.

A bottle of milk or juice at bedtime can raise the risk of tooth decay. Ask your dentist about safer bedtime habits.

It varies by child. Your dentist can check how teeth are developing and suggest a good time to start weaning.

The dentist checks the gums and first teeth and answers your questions about teething, feeding, and brushing.

A smear of fluoride toothpaste about the size of a grain of rice is commonly recommended once teeth appear.

Chalky white spots near the gumline can be an early sign. Have a dentist check them.

Many toddlers are seen about every six months, but your dentist will recommend a schedule.
